a question of crucial importance.
it's fall and that means it's time for BOOTS! yes, even as a total shoe-hater (sorry, go ahead and take my lady credentials away, but i get blisters from every pair of shoes ever... including uggs and flip-flops), i get super pumped about a classic pair of riding boots. this year, i'm coveting a pair of black ones, as i've got the brown department totally covered. which brings me to my query....
which pair should i get??
which pair should i get??
option a: frye melissa button
OR...
option b: dv by dolce vita lujan
HALP*?!?!
*yes, i realize this is the whitest of white girl problems to have, and there are other things happening in my life and the world that are far more important, but just indulge me, k? kthx. xoxo.

bonjour, girl!
well, it's finally time for real life to start again. after a month straight of being on the road, i'm back at home and heading into the office for the first time in what feels like decades. lots to catch up on, but for now, i just have to share this incredible video. if you were an 80s baby like myself, i guarantee you'll love it. a tip of the hat to the hairpin, as always.
happy monday!
happy monday!

friday, i'm in love (no, for serious)
oh heyyyyyyy there. (casually saunters back as if it hasn't been two months since my last post...)
it's friday, and i'm in love. i don't mean with a tv show, a book, a new blog, a cute shirt or an awesome song.
i'm bursting with excitement about this new chapter in my life. you know how people say it's so wonderful to fall in love with your best friend? well, that happened. a friend i've known for almost four years. a friend who i've gotten closer and closer with over the past few months. my best friend who keeps me up at night laughing until my side hurts, has no problem going to vegan restaurants with me, and who i know beyond a shadow of a doubt would do anything for me. i mean, he's pretty much the best thing ever, and i'm crazy about him, and i'm sorry this is a mushy, squishy, ooky post. but if i may... SQUEEEE!
ok. moving on. more big news at work, but i'm not quite at liberty to share just yet. it involves a promotion, a completely new position and department to build out, an opportunity to create some game-changing stuff in the nonprofit sector, and a pretty ridiculously awesome title involving the word 'innovation.' i can't wait to talk more about it.
i will be back more often, i promise. pinky swear. even though my schedule in august looks like this: nyc --> sfo --> vegas --> sfo --> atx --> ct --> nyc. i get exhausted just looking at that.
but the best part about the last two months has been my weekly trips to the beach with B. every saturday, we wake up at the crack of dawn, throw some towels, sunscreen and watermelon in a zipcar, and hit the long island expressway for a day of sun and sand. i count down to saturday morning every week (23 hours til we go tomorrow!) and savor every moment of this:

is it legal to be this happy? i just cannot believe it.

are you there world? it's me, meghan.
i'm alive. and well. and back home! huzzah! let's just quickly gloss over the fact that my little corner of the internet has been badly neglected for the past, oh, six weeks or so. it's for a good reason, i promise! here, let me prove it to you.
first, i was here, soaking in some knowledge and licking the wounds inflicted upon my high school senior-self when stanford was all like, yeah, thanks but not thanks. nope, definitely not still bitter about that.
next stop on the itinerary: revisiting my childhood home. well, by childhood, i mean when i was 5 until i was 8, we were stationed at fort ord, in monterey, california. i hadn't been back since i was about 10, so it was really cool to revisit my old stomping grounds. (oh yeah, my dad was in the army, and i kinda moved allll over the place - have we not covered that yet?) my work buds and i snuck in a quick weekend road trip in between meetings out in san francisco.

a few days later, i found myself on a plane heading towards tennetuckiana, to see my beautiful bff get married. ok, that's not a real place - you caught me. i flew into nashville, spent a few nights in her hometown in kentucky, and then headed up to new harmony, indiana for the nuptials. while in henderson, there may or may not have been a bachelorette party bus that picked us up in the parking lot of an office depot.
henderson, kentucky
the wedding was heart-stoppingly gorgeous, and bursting at the seams with love. you know those weddings, where everyone is just glowing with happiness because you know the bride and groom are meant to be? it was just lovely. and have you ever seen a more beautiful bride? i was so proud to stand by her side as she married the love of her life. yay weddings! oh also, i danced my face off. as i am wont to do.
where to next, you might be asking? well, meghan's magical tour of north america made a final stop in good ol' austin, texas, for a week of real vacation. as in, i deleted my work email off my phone and totally disconnected. now, don't get me wrong - this was not a laying-about, sleeping-in and lounging-around kind of vacation. quite the opposite, in fact. i was plenty busy. doing things like...
mastering the 'michael jackson experience' on my brother's wii (i rocked this)...
drinking, dancing, and diving on a party boat on lake austin for my sister's friend's birthday...
drinking tiki drinks, hanging out with my sis and her bf, and did i mention swimming?
clearly, it was an extraordinarily busy week. and i didn't even take pictures of all the tacos i consumed!
but now, i'm home. *happy sigh* and there aren't any travel plans on the horizon for at least a month. i can go grocery shopping, and get back in my groove, and it feels great. speaking of feeling great, after a hot power yoga class tonight, i'm thinking it'll feel pretty great to climb into bed right about now.
yay for being back!

please accept this recap as a token of my sincere apologies.
yesterday, i was in d.c. today, i'm in new york. tomorrow, i'll be in san francisco. in two weeks, i'll be in indiana for my best friend's wedding. in three weeks, i'll be in austin. phew!
along with all the traveling, my internet at home has been hit or miss (awesome!), so the chances that it will disappear before i hit publish on his post are about 50/50. better make this fast...
some things that have happened in the past, uh, three weeks that i've been a bad blogger:
1. OMG ROYAL WEDDING?!?! loved it all. got up early. kate was stunning. pippa was hot. everything was lovely. i watched the ceremony three times and i'm only a little bit ashamed of that.
2. OMG BIN LADEN?!?! yes. great news. twitter was phenomenal that night. oh, and i now know everything there is to know about the navy seal dogs. amazing.
3. i drank the lululemon koolaid. a big ol' cold refreshing glass of it. and i'd like to wear those pants all day, every day, please and thank you.
4. i read 'bossypants' and 'a visit from the goon squad', both of which you should immediately purchase and devour in short amounts of time (as i did). highly recommended.
5. i went to the brooklyn museum for the first time with some buds for their first saturdays program, which opens up the museum for free and includes tons of cool things to do - including an awesome dance party in this stunning beaux-arts hall. so much fun!
6. i can't stop watching the michael bolton/jack sparrow digital short from snl last weekend. it absolutely kills me, and definitely lands in my top 3 digital shorts - and that's about the highest compliment possible.
afraid i will probably disappear for a few weeks again, but rest assured i will resurface with an equally scintillating recap post... so you have that to look forward to. you're welcome!

o.o.t.d.
i'm back! after three days working in an office on a pier with this view:
and apparently, even though the calendar says i was only gone for 4 days, i arrived home in the middle of july! it's H.O.T. here in nyc today. it's like we literally skipped over spring and landed straight in the middle of summer. now, i'm not one to complain about the weather (err, much), but a few weeks in between 40 and 80 degrees would be pretty swell. anyways, to celebrate said arrival into summer, i broke out a summer dress today... first of the season!
i'm not one to post outfits on a regular basis, because my closet is not terribly adventurous. my daily wardrobe consists of some variation of jeans, ballet flats and button down shirts, with the odd striped t-shirt and cardigan thrown in there once in a while. lo and behold, i somehow pulled this outfit straight out of a madewell ad.
